Ingredients

For the cream cheese trees
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese softened
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill finely chopped
  • 0.25 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.125 tsp salt
  • 4 drops green food coloring
For the bites
  • 1 cucumber English, cut into 24 (1/3-inch) rounds
  • 2 tbsp red bell pepper finely diced

Equipment

  • 1 piping bag with medium star tip

Method

Make the cream cheese trees
  1. Beat the cream cheese, sour cream, dill, garlic powder, salt, and food coloring in a medium bowl until smooth and evenly green.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a medium star tip and refrigerate for 10 to 15 minutes, until firm enough to pipe.
Assemble the bites
  1. Pat the cucumber rounds dry and arrange them on a serving platter.
  2. Pipe a small tree onto each cucumber round, making stacked zigzag rows that are widest at the bottom and narrowest at the top.
  3. Press a few pieces of diced red bell pepper into each tree as ornaments, then serve or refrigerate for up to 2 hours.

Notes

For the cleanest piping, make sure the cucumber rounds are thoroughly dry. Serve the assembled bites within 2 hours; leftover cream cheese mixture can be covered and refrigerated for up to 3 days. Freezer: no. For a dairy-free option, use dairy-free cream cheese and sour cream.
