Ingredients

  • 8 bacon slices
  • 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 3 green onions thinly sliced

Equipment

  • 1 10-inch skillet

Method

  1. Cook the bacon in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes, turning as needed, until crisp.
  2. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, cool, and crumble.
  3. Beat the cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning in a medium bowl until smooth.
  4. Fold in the cheddar, green onions, and crumbled bacon until evenly combined.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

For the best texture, crumble the bacon after it has cooled. Store covered in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days; freezing is not recommended because the dairy can become grainy. For a lighter version, use reduced-fat cream cheese.
