Ingredients

For the cocoa mix
  • 2 cup nonfat dry milk powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp fine salt
For the topping
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
For serving
  • 16 cup water not included in the kit

Equipment

  • 1 1 1/2-quart airtight jar

Method

Make the cocoa mix
  1. Whisk the nonfat dry milk powder, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a large bowl until evenly combined.
Package the kit
  1. Transfer the mix to a 1 1/2-quart airtight jar.
  2. Put the mini marshmallows in a separate food-safe bag and store both in a cool, dry place.
Prepare the cocoa
  1. For each serving, heat 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat until steaming, about 2–4 minutes.
  2. Whisk in 1/4 cup mix until smooth.
  3. Top with 1 tablespoon mini marshmallows.
  4. Repeat with the remaining ingredients for up to 16 servings.

Notes

Whisk the dry mix thoroughly so the cocoa is evenly distributed. Store the kit sealed in a cool, dry place; refrigerate prepared cocoa for up to 3 days. Freezing is not recommended. For a dairy-free option, use plant-based dry milk powder.
