Ingredients

  • 4 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 0.125 tsp kosher salt
  • 6 oz white chocolate chopped
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp red food coloring

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until the cocoa is evenly dispersed.
  2. Set the saucepan over medium heat and cook, whisking often, for 5 to 7 minutes, until steaming but not boiling.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the white chocolate until melted and smooth.
  4. Whisk in the vanilla and red food coloring.
  5. Divide among 4 mugs.
  6. Serve hot.

Notes

For the smoothest drink, keep the milk steaming but do not let it boil. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the texture may change. For a dairy-free option, use unsweetened oat milk and dairy-free white chocolate.
